WHAT IS MOCK TRIAL?

As mockers, we're used to that question. The answer is actually quite simple. It is exactly what it sounds like - we perform in "mock" trials, or fake trials.

Each team has both a plaintiff/prosecution and defense. Both sides are composed of three attorneys and three witnesses. At a tournament, our plaintiff/prosecution will go against another school's defense (and vice versa). During a tournament round, we go through all the major steps of a trial: both sides give an opening statement; witnesses are directed and cross examined; objections are made; and closing statements are given. 

Every year, the case switches between civil and criminal. The case for the 2023-2024 season is criminal.
